Japanese Six Panel Screen: Tosa School Painting of Theatre Scene

Tosa School painting, with thought to be Izumo shrine and one of the dancers being no Okuni (1578-1613). There is the impression that Okuni was an attendant and dancer at the Grand Shrine of Izumo, which happens to be the oldest Shinto shrine in Japan. The painting has a composition of mineral pigments and gold dust on Mulberry paper and bordered with silk brocade.
