Meiji Period Japanese Lacquer Plaque with Autumn River Scene
Early Meiji period (1868 -1912) lacquer plaque with original bronze mounts and wonderful lacquer details depicting maple, pine, and cherry trees dropping their leaves and petals into a meandering stream. Areas of heavy gold leaf and pieces in the lacquer. Originally used for hanging fans in an important household. Original bronze mounts.
