Notes about the artist: Tosa Mitsutake (1844–1916) was a Japanese artist known for his work in the traditional Japanese style, particularly within the Tosa school, reviving courtly tastes in the late Edo and Meiji periods, often focusing on delicate yamato-e themes like seasonal nature and poetry, distinct from the prevalent Kano school.
