Japanese Two Panel Screen: Papyrus on Gold with Twig Fence

Edo period (late 17th century), beautifully painted with heavy deep gold and just the right amount of wear on the gofun (layered to represent depth in the twig fence). Excellent quality heavy gold leaf gives this screen a special glow. Screen is in good condition with a recent remounting. Minimal pigments on mulberry paper with gold leaf and traces of gesso and a silk brocade border.
