Japanese Two Panel Screen: Flying Fish
A lively Japanese two-panel screen depicting a school of flying fish (tobiuo) skimming across the surface of the sea. Executed in mineral pigments on mulberry paper, the composition captures the rhythmic movement of the fish as they glide above shimmering water with remarkable economy of line and color. The screen is finished with a simple wood trim and dates to circa 1950. Inscription and signature read: "Tobiuo" (Flying Fish) and Fuseta Yo.
