Notes about the artist: Toshio Matsuo (1926-2016) was a highly regarded Japanese artist from Nagasaki Prefecture. His notable career included his first acceptance into the 34th Restored Inten Exhibition in 1949 and his appointment as a Dojin of the Inten in 1971. He received the prestigious 35th Japan Art Academy Prize in 1979 and became a member of The Japan Art Academy in 1994. Matsuo was known for his mastery in depicting plants and animals, with one of his works permanently displayed at the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (MOMAT). The screen comes with its original storage box.
