Japanese Six Panel Screen: Matsushima (Pine Tree Island)
Golden clouds encompass the islands of Matsushima, located in the north-east of Sendai in Miyagi prefecture in the Tohoku region. Beautifully painted with mineral pigments, gold leaf (with good veining) and gold dust on mulberry paper. Silk brocade border and black lacquer trim with gilded bronze hardware.
