Unlike most genre scenes, this painting is not specific to a holiday or festival, but a painting of every day life (genre painting). There are merchants, monks, and families, as well as a procession of shogun and dignitaries in ox driven carts heading to temples. Scene possibly takes place in Kyoto or Nagoya.
