Japanese Six-Panel Screen: Garden Landscape

Dating to circa 1800, this elegant Japanese six-panel screen presents a flourishing riverside garden filled with blooming poppies, hollyhocks, flowering cherry, and irises, each rendered in luminous mineral pigments against a radiant gold leaf ground. The varied botanical forms unfold naturally across the composition, creating a harmonious rhythm that reflects the changing seasons and the enduring beauty of the Japanese garden. Executed with the refined craftsmanship of the Edo period, the screen is finished with a silk brocade border, black lacquer wood trim, and bronze mounts, making it a captivating work of art.
