Japanese Meiji Lacquer Letter Box With Flowering Vine and Butterfly
Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) light colored lacquer document box, with a close up of a vine arbor rendered in silver makie, heavy gold pieces and MOP. Box has a butterfly on the side, as well as nashiji ground trim, and a pewter rim. Inside has gold and silver dust as well as fallen petals on a black lacquer ground.
