Japanese Lacquer Suzuribako (Writing box)
Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) lacquer writing box with pine tree rising over a Minka house (Japanese farmhouse) in the hills. Rendered in taka-makie (raised gold) and MOP design. Plover design and signature on inside of lid. with interior nashiji ground (lacquer with embedded gold dust). Interior tray with ink stone and suiteki (water dropper) decorated with grasses in gold. Comes with storage box. Signature reads: Karin. Seal reads: Hoetsu.
