Japanese Lacquer Document Box
Meiji period (1868 - 1912) subject of river boats amongst water grasses carrying bundled twigs for fencing under a moon lit sky. Design rendered in taka-makie (raised gold), MOP, with a silver moon. Korin-style ripples in the water. Interior decoration and tray with nashiji ground (gold dust embedded in the lacquer). Wonderful texture and bold design.
