Japanese Four Panel Screen: Chinese Temple in Mountain Landscape

Edo period (second half of the 18th century), Chinese school painting of beautifully detailed temple grounds next to a river with fishing boats headed towards shore. A hill covered landscape with other temples are in the background. Wonderful use of gold dust and soft painting, suggesting a misty atmosphere. Mineral pigments with gold leaf fragments on mulberry paper with silk brocade border.
