Japanese 18th Century Traveling Bosatsu Shrine for a Daimyo
Edo Period (1603 - 1868) two-sided shring containing a bronze and gold inlay Bosatsu (Buddha / safety guardian). This is a portable shrine that would be carried when traveling. Nashiji decoration and gilded bronze hardware. Made by Masanobu-Goto in 1778 for a daimyo (feudal lord) family as their traveling shrine.
