Bronze Vase in an Abstract Form of a Fish
Signature reads: Nakajima Yasumi II (1905-1986) Born in Osaka, Japan, he was the eldest son of the metal artist Nakajima Yasumi I, who was a founder of the Osaka Craft Group. Yasumi II graduated from the National School of Industrial Art of Sendai in 1932. A year later, his work was exhibited in multiple prestigious exhibitions, such as the Export Crafts Exhibition in Japan and the Grand Salon in Paris. In 1939 he began regularly participating in exhibitions like the Shin Bunten as well as the Nitten, where he won multiple prizes for his work. Yasumi II is a highly respected and famous artist known for his abstract design and his mastery of patina techniques.
