Antique Japanese Root Stand
Meiji period (1868 - 1912) carving from a single piece of fruitwood in a natural root design. Originally made for presenting a small sculpture or treasure. Comes in original maker's box. Calligraphy on the box reads "tsutsui tate" meaning free standing cylinder, and the name, "Tatsuno" which is most likely the artist's name.
