Pair of Japanese Six Panel Screens: Venerable Pines with Naruko (Clackers)
This wonderful pair depicting the harvest, Naruko are noise making clackers, hung in the trees to protect the rice harvest from birds. Sparrows, drying bundles of rice, Chinese privet, yellow camellia, pine and bamboo. Kano School painting in mineral pigments on gold leaf on mulberry paper. Hand stenciled back paper. Measurements listed are for each screen.
